I think I need an alternator... which one?

Can't make heads or tails of what is in the Haynes book, I can't find any number on the alternator in the car, other than a number tag behind it on the block. 18GB-U-H. The U could be a V.
The car has also been converted to negative earth.
 
18GB was used from 65 to 67. Those engines didn't have an alternator. There was a generator installed on the early cars. The generator could be run positive or negative earth. The system uses a external regulator. It is mounted on the fender next to the fuse box. Lack of charging could be from either a faulty generator or a bad regulator. The Moss number for the generator is 140-200.
