I have been looking for over two weeks for something that I could put between the grill sourround and the paint to fill any imperfections and look like I wanted. Finally today I found what I think will work and look good. Its not quite rubber and its not quite plastic but something in between. It was some kind of moulding or something that looks like a plastic tube with a 1" flange or someting that comes off one side. This flange piece will fit between the surround and the paint and the tubing like part will be on the exposed area of the surround and the paint filling in any gaps and I think making it look well. I have been looking at many pics of spidgets and many others don't look so good where the grill surround meets the paint in the corners. I will post pics when I get done. I found it at this place that sells like some sort of car parts seconds or something. Its like JC whitney returned or reject parts or something. Its hard to expalain what this store is. I had to buy a whole big spool of this stuff that costs me a bunch for what I needed, but it was perfect and maybe I can find another use for the rest of it sometime. I bought a used grill surround from ebay. The problem with it was that the surround parts were annodized aluminum and the anodized part looked foggy and not the proper shine. I found out how to remove the annodizing and did that. whew what a job, but its pretty cool doing that and then polishing the aluminum back to a high shine and then I plan on clear coating it to protect it. I am getting so close to getting it all back together. I have to to put the windshield in yet. Does anyone know about the shims? are they required and how many? its been so long I don't remember what was in there and if there were any shims I cannot find them.
