This is about the last style of Ferrari I am interested in.

There is a lot to love when considering its performance. But it looks like they took a page from the Ricers and all the fiberglass goofy stuff they hang on a Honda, or whatever since they all look the same to me. Not the classic almost timeless styling I expect from Ferrari. I could be brutal ask about a fart can exhaust. Then again what do I know, my TR4 needs paint and I have more Cole Porter CDs than anything else.

Gorgeous car.

That's a '53 340MM Vignale Spyder, Serial number 0280AM...

The number 547 was used when it won the Mille Miglia in Apr of '53.

More info here...

Edit: I hang out on Ferrari Chat, mostly in the vintage section, and have learned how to look this a lot of this stuff up. It's amazing how much info there is out there on these early Ferraris.

martx-5, when ever i here the name "ferrari" all i can see is a 275 gtb...

Nice choice...Would that be the 2 cam or 4 cam version??

Edit: Just another bit of info in case anyone doesn't know. All of the earlier V-12 Ferraris got their model number from the displacement of one cylinder. So, a 275 would have a total displacement of 3.3 liters. The 340MM above would have a total displacement of 4.1 liters. There were some early four cylinder cars, such as the 500TR's (Testa Rossa, or red head, as the cam covers were painted crinkle red). They would have a a displacement of 2 liters.

I want one of these.

Cheers

Mark

must be me, but I'm just not groovin on it.

It may be an amazing car to drive but I'm not likin the paddle shift and all the carbon fiber in the interior

I like the appearance of the 599 a lot.
But if I wanted a car in that league, I'd buy a new C6 Corvette instead.
A better deal and (to my eyes) just as neat-looking.

But honestly, I'm not a fan of "big power" cars on any type.
I've always felt it's more fun to extract max performance from a low-powered car.

"Just" the 2 cam version, please. It just gives the best looking car the best looking engine bay (to my eyes).

Well, the California is the last new Ferrari that will be available with a proper manual transmission-from here on out they are all paddle shift. Oddly, the California is the only current Ferrari I like the looks of, either-the last one I liked was the 550.

Not terribly impressed... Most of the current crop of super cars don't interest me anymore, here in Calgary there are a bunch of rich folks (oil & gas industry) who acquire a newer exotic car, and in 99% of the cases I think they're doing it just to show off their money and aren't true-blue car enthusiasts...

We have a few local people who go after the older European exotics, and - having met them - they are the real deal... One guy loves his Alfa Romeo Giulia coupe as much as his 246 Dino, so money isn't everything...

Well, I have wrench on a lot of old Ferrari's and Alfa's. I would take a 212 for the older, and a Lusso for a so so current. I am not fond of the "NEW" range of Ferrari. The 212 that I did sold a few years back, it was part of the Ponder collecting out of Texas.
Cheers,
D.

Mr. Ferrari would have disagreed with ya. That thing looks like a Corvette.
