Yes, I got it cranked. And yes, I blew the oil pump right out the bottom.
After a number of cranks, I got her started. Then she made a really ugly wheezing sound and I never showed any oil pressure. I popped the dizzy assembly to see if the pump would spin and saw a notch on the drive dog. Hmmmmm.
I dropped the pan and the oil pump was locked up and hanging by one bolt. Now, I know I put that thing on there right, and torqued the bolts down well. Is it possible to clock it wrong? Took the pump apart and it locks up at one full rotation. New-ish pump. What the heck went wrong????
The cam looks ok, don't think I did much damage running with no oil. Total of less than one minute of the crank turning, and maybe 30 seconds under its own power.
I just keep telling myself....tractor motor...tractor motor...tractor motor
They don't break that easy.
Then I remember the oil commercial where they drain the oil out of an engine at high speed and they keep running.
God, I am not ready for this.
