I saw the strangest thing today.

I was driving to work this morning, and when I got off the freeway I saw something I had never seen before. A hearse show! There must have been 100 of them from all different periods in time. Some were old ambulances. I wanted to stop so badly, but I was already running late for work. Bummer!

Ya gotta give up that day job, Steve....its interfering with life!

No kidding. I was really kicking myself for leaving the house late today. If I were on time, I could have stopped to check it out and then been the same amount of late to work.

I work to make money so I can fix my car. I fix my car so I can drive to work.

Or death, in this case.

Wonder what their "my other car" bumper sticker would read.

Better to be a working stiff...

I know a guy who took an old Caddy hearse & cut the top out of the part where the casket usually goes...made a set of ramps, painted it black w/flames & Harley Davidson emblems & little skulls & uses it to carry his Harley chopper on long hauls!

Bumper sticker candidate, then: "WARNING: The DRIVER is the WORKING STIFF!"

I've seen those shows covered in magazines before. I can't remember what they call it... Industrial cars, or professsional cars, or working cars, or something like that. They include Hearses, ambulances, flower cars, taxies, limos, airport shuttles, fire cars, and the like..
Theres actually an airport shuttle for sale in my town right now. Built on a 62 or 63 Cheverolet, it had 4 doors on the passenger side. it's kind of like a streach limo with rows of bench seats and no tint.
The owner is a real charecter though. I won't go looking at it just because I don't wanna deal with the guy.

My last name is Graves. Always thought I should buy a funeral home. Then on the hearse I'd put personalized plates with my name, and one of those gas company stickers that says "Call before you dig"
Dave

I had a 1953 Pontiac hearse back in my college days! I wish I had held onto it! it was painted in the "classic" hippie paint job of the day when I got it. I repainted it with a gazillion puff cans of hot-rod flat black and in gold-leaf, old english lettering I painted "Grave Undertaking" on the doors! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Our Iola show this year included five hearses from a local group...everybody was dressed as some kind of mortician, goth hero and such. Lots of dead bodies, bats and such in their displays. Not my favorite but some of it was pretty funny...
