Officer Brough was shot in the face, close range, last fall during a standoff situation in a small town 20 minutes from me. You can *google* him and get all the details.

Jon was a patient of my daughter's. She treated him for a couple weeks before releasing him for further rehabilitation. Sarah said he is the toughest guy she's ever met. A scrappy patient with a great attitude and outlook on life. And a perfect candidate for a 'face transplant' - since, when she treated him, there was little face left.

He's had several surgeries already, has so many more to go. He'll never have his sight, but he hasn't lost his will to live, his love of life.

I don't do this sort of thing normally, but if ya'll take a second and give the guy a vote...

Thanks.

He has my vote.

I voted.........I have also sent your post, suitably amended, to everyone that I am on friendly terms with in my real estate e-mail list, with a request for them to vote and pass the word on......

Steve, thank you! Sarah works almost exclusively with TBI, traumatic brain injury. She's seen a lot of injuries, from the polo player from Spain that came to the states for treatment to the guy that fell off the bar stool to Sgt. Brough. They all touch her but I think Jon's tenacity and humility, his "just doing my job" attitude really made an impression.

My vote as well.

I used to work at Scott AFB - Belleville was right out the main gate. Just voted.

Thanks guys. At risk of being a pain, you can vote once each day.

Done, thanks for bringing this subject to our attention.

Tried to go and give it today's hit and it errored. I'll give it another try before midnight. Shoulda done the second one mid-day but was 'working'... Guessin' their server's bein' hammered.

It took my vote for today too!

Success.

Day three....third vote. Don't forget to vote today too!!!

Although not as dramatic, I've had my own TBI, left me out of commision for a couple of years, he has my vote!

Done, with admirable pleasure. Police officers, the protectors of the innocent, need to be admired, as most people don't realize just how dangerous their job really is. PJ

Ain't enuff money in the world to do that job, IMO. They're amazing.
