As you may have guessed, the yellow 61 is apart now.

This car was involved in a harmonica accident back in the middle 60's and repaired. The driveshaft tunnel sustained damage and has never really been repaired. I will do that now, but I need a couple pictures of a correct car.

Right now, mine looks like this from the back. and like this from the top.

Who can help?

I'd consider a bottle jack and some careful "re-shaping". Put a solid chunk of 4x4 across the RH door frame to support the jack and push on the tunnel at various points to get things moving in the right direction. Slow and steady.

well the gear shift hole is not logitudinal. it's angled to the LH driver. Let me see if i can get you some measuring points since my 67 tub is apart right now. the tunnels should be the same ... i feel your pain ... my tub was cut in half

sorry .. i forgot to get some measurements for you ... working a plant outage 13 hours and then kids sports doesn't help either .... hang in there .. should be able to get some pics to.

With that kind of damage to the shifter, is the car straight? While it's apart, it's probably worth either measuring to ensure everything is straight, or, find a body shop and get an hour on a frame stretcher. (my 2 cents)
 
No, the car isn't straight. Never was. But it was welded back together so the back was straight while the tunnel wasn't.

Don't worry, it will be straight. Everything from the tunnel outwards, and from the front bulkhead back to the trunk will be replaced with new. It's just a question of using a level and making sure the panels and rear section match the doors. The tunnel must be level and perpendicular to the cowling. The rear bulkhead must be parallel to the cowling perpendicular to the tunnel and rockers and level with the battery box. From then on it's a breeze.

I just wonder about how straight the tunnel is right now so I can fix it.
 
Let me know if nobody can get you pictures/measurements. my car is stripped at the moment, but unfortunately the tub is holding a pile of parts at the moment. But if nobody comes through for you today, then I'll clean it out tonight and get some photos and measurements.

love the pics - where did you find your carpet? that is very close to what I am looking for.
 
all i have to do is remember ... let me see what i can do tonight. what i want to do is give you some measurements from a variety of reference points.
 
Actually that does help, a whole lot. I can see that mine is pushed in on the left side. Now I have a better idea of what I should do.

BTW, I just couldn't help it. I hade to take this shot when I got home from work today.
The exhaust valves are from some of our engines, a 26, a 50 and a 60 (cm dia pistons).

CJust and FYI to lecreek. You may already have this done but just in case, cutting carpet to fit around the transmission hump. Not sure if you bought a kit or not for the carpet but I found that if I made a couple of cuts around the transmission hump to fit the carpet and overlaid the two pieces that resulted. I could make a 45 degree angle cut at the bottom of the shift lever opening through the two pieces of overlapping capet, apply 3 M glue and it all went back together with an almost invisible seam there.
 
Carpet was a traded for item. From a aircraft customization.
