I need to find the Dupont paint codes for dove gray and grampian gray. I can't find these 2 codes I have LS037 & LSO38 anywhere, have been to the Dupont site a dozen times. I NEED to see how close I am with the 2 colors I picked.

I need it yesterday because I have to call John in the morning with our choice.

Anything you see on a computer monitor is going to be different than it's color in real life.

I can't seem to cross-reference them to Dupont.

FWIW, I found a couple of pictures of cars with each color that you're talking about. One's a GT, the other an A; that should at least give you a ballpark idea.

Thanks Josh, I have about 3 pics of grampian and 4 or 5 of dove gray and EACH dove gray car looks like a different shade of gray, from nearly white to almost grampian. What I need is paint codes and a car each color parked in my garage for 5 minutes.

There IS a dove gray MGA in STL somewhere. A guy in our club sold it a couple months ago, THE DAY I asked him if I could come look at it (I'd just found out he owned a dove gray MG) I suppose I could contact Dennis and track the car down, but I don't have that sort of time.

Hahaha...small world it is! I like that GT, Steve. Especially the English stamped plate; I've always liked those for some reason.

Are Dennis and Rob going to run the MER this year?

"Cedric" is a perfect example of grampian.

Teglerizer! I have that site memorized I think. ((that dove gray seems so light, nearly white to me)

I know what the colors look like (from pics) - but I cannot find the corresponding paint code in Dupont paint. That's where I'm messed up. I may be way off on the color.

(Rob who?) You know Rick, I don't know. Dennis hasn't been to a meeting in a few months. He went to Florida to buy (another) twin cam a month or more ago, then again the next week for a family vacation. I actually heard last night they may be relocating to Florida!

If originality makes any difference, Grampain Grey was a 1967 GT-only color. No other year and no roadsters ever used it. I've never seen a roadster painted that color. Could be interesting.

I have a pic of a grampian B, Tim Swanson owns it and it's pretty amazing-looking.

I'm not going for 'year correct,' just period correct.

Yes Steve, that's why metallics and Mary Kay pink are out.

Well, there's a first for me! I figured there were GG roadsters out there but I hadn't actually seen one until right now.

Here is a good example of how the same GG paint can look completely different depending on lighting. On my monitor, the hood in the first shot looks accurate to the actual color.

These photos have been slightly color corrected, but only slightly. They actually represent fairly accurately what your eye would see. Of course your monitor will look different than mine but the comparison is still valid.

Thanks for going to all this trouble Steve. I love the color best in the last picture. Now how do I find the correct Dupont codes? You have the PPG codes, I wonder if Dupont can cross-reference it?

Do you have a local Napa auto parts? They usually sell PPG paint, and may have a reference book... Call 'em first thing in the morning. But... Isn't the car being painted tomorrow? Has the paint already been ordered yet?

No, I have to give him the number tomorrow, of these 2. Then he's getting a pint, painting a door for me. If I hate it, I'm throwing myself off the arch.

Hmmm, I don't know how to find a ppg store. Automotive paint suppliers or something?

I'm flabbergasted! Never, ever have I seen so much consternation over picking a color! & all the extra work that's piling up because of it - doors to be stripped & reprepped, etc.....wow! I'm glad its easy to pick colors around here.....whatever it was, it will be; & if there's a change its easy to pick another factory color for that year out of my paint chips! Guess I'm getting easy in my old age....hehehehe
