Jack, if you are out there, I need your help. I can't figure out how the spare tire straps goes together. No one on the forum seems to be able to help, but suggested your name. The problem I am having is this: the V strap with the hook fits fine, with the v part coming to the center of the wheel. I can not figure out how the straight strap with the buckle goes on. Can you give me any help?

The olive green v-shaped strap with the two hooks goes in the rear as you said. The black single strap loops through the tie down bracket located in the center of the curved portion of the boot floor. Then under and over the "V" in the other strap back to the bucket of the single black strap.

You know Ray, it would make my restoration a whole lot easier if you just moved next door to me. OK, I know the straight strap goes through the center bracket. I still can't see how it works. How long is the black strap supposed to be? Do you have a pic of how the staps go together?

Also, I know you are a stickler for details. Do you happen to have a pic and measurements for an original jack bag?

Kevin

The straight strap is only 24". At least now I know I'm not the problem. I guess what I will have to do is get the local upholstery shop to sew on a longer length. When I get a pic/measurement of the jack bag, I think I will have him make one of those too. Thanks, Ray.

Hear I am, was on the road with the wife and I refuse to take a computer along.

remember 24" was for an orginal size tire, bet you don't have one.

Well, I guess you are allowed to take a vacation without taking the forum with you. Sounds like you had a good time. You are correct. The tire is slightly larger. I didn't think it was large enough to make a difference. Either way, I guess I will still need to get a longer strap sewn on.

go to a second hand shop or a flea market and find a short belt that is the same and link them - then you don't have to cut an original strap.
