Lets talk interiors.

I plan to use standard vinyl seats and interior pannels, Moss prob.

Now, the dash covering comes with the interior pannels but I would like to do it now so I can start the engine and so forth. I can not afford to buy the pannels as yet. Prob be well after the first of the year, but with the dash covered I could press on with lots of stuff.

Is all red vinyl the same?

Does Moss sell vinyl by the yard, they use to?

Where can I get vinyl that matches? Guess I would need about a yard and a half, right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

Any advise is welcome.

Colors vary based on batches and manufacturer.

I'm going through some of the same issues with Miz A's sister the new Whitephrog (also OEW w/ red trim) I've collected samples form Heritage, Prestige, AH Spares and JoAnn fabrics. I have samples coming from Frogeye Spares and Moss. None of the reds are the same. I have a couple of good clean unfaded swatches from the original red trim. I'm trying to match that as close as possible. The other issue is carpet. The trim and the carpet shades need to be as close to the same as possible as well. Red is a funnny color. One shade can be very incompatible with another. So far I believe that the AH Spares vinyl and Heritage carpet are the best match to each otrher and to the original.

The orginal was a really bright red as I remember and faded rapidly.

Wonder why Moss does not sell vinyl by the yard?

I am doing a red interior on the 58 also. I already recovered the dash by taking a piece from Buster's interior which he got from AH Spares, and 2 pieces of original red unfadded vinyl from 2 different cars. Although the texture isn't exact, I found the right color at my local upholstry shop and he gave me enough for the dash and I will buy the rest from that same roll for the seats and interior panels.
This shop will do the seats for about twhat some places charge for the covers. The material is $10 a yd so for $40 I can do everything but the seats.
Check around, your local guys are a big asset.

Good thought, thanks.

Thank you Peter.

Jack - you want to get all your interior at the same place so the colors match - red is not red - I'll call my Moss guy tomorrow & see if we can just get enough vinyl for the dash....let me know which upholstery kit you want.

Jack, I just browsed the Sprite Project site and was very impressed!!! Nice job on ms Agatha. I like the Harley mirrors. BEs need at least something Harley on them (I think its the common engine displacement!:smile:Where is Jolly's place? Looks like a place I would love to visit!!!

Jollys place is all gone. The partner died and all was sold off. In fact the last of the special wheels are in classifieds at this moment. Think he told me they had to have a run of 50 made to get a reasonable price. There were a couple of Sebring Sprites in there as well, all restored a coupe and a roadster, really nice.
