Uh oh.... here we go.

Bob - from your screen name I'm taking in a wild guess that you have a BGT. Having had a couple BGTs, which are great cars, and a couple of TRs I'd bet that the more raw / visceral edge the TR4 has is still under your skin.

Tinkerman - I'd put it this way. If I had to drive from SoCal to Vermont I'd take a BGT in a heartbeat. If I had 2 hours and needed to get my "kicks", I'd take the TR. They are really different beasts...

That's a lovely looking 4A, Bob. I, too, had one 20 years ago and it was a great car. I miss it, but I have a 3A to give me that same buzz.

i love my 4a. had a not very nice 73b years ago when they were not so precious, as a driver in iowa for around 5 years and trashed it, however it took me all around the midwest. the b as i remember sat lower and more reclined, 4 more upright, kinda same difference though. kool drivin. always liked the bgt, and although the tr's top is still down since april kinda like a roof too.
i love em all.
now if those healeys haden't gone $ up sooo much........

The TR and the MG are totally different cars. The TR4A irs was more of a beast.I had the engine on steroids and all the goodies. Good part springs, adjustable rear brackets,TR6 Front bar,Big bore kit, shaved head, over size intake valves, cam from Ken Gillander,O/D,Infinaty rear diff, SU carbs, lightened flywheel and then there was the body.ARE silverstones,Surrey top,Repro console from Harry Beaker and a group 44 silver stripe. Can you tell i miss that car? The MG's are a bit more stable on the road and tighter. The TR had GRUNT and a look like no other car out there. They each have there own charm and MG and TR people are the best!My TR4a has been gone for less the 2 years now. Maybe another one will follow me home one day. Thanks for letting me share my experience, Bob

Well, there's this one .

I was thinking about contacting the guy, but just don't have room. Don't know if he still has it, but sounds promising.

Mickey, The garage is full. If you watch the MG board you will see my latest 69 project and my 72 just completed cars. I will post a pic of the 67 i just finished. The sickness does not end there! I'm in deep....Bob

12-Step Program? :jester:

I have had a few British cars, see my tag line, the 4A was my favorite, followed by the Big Healey and 67 Sprite in a near tie--the Sprite was fun when I was younger, but would not like one as much now with all the behemoths on the road.

The Healey was certainly special, but as a car and sports car liked the 4A better.

Don't get me wrong, I like the B GT too, in fact other than in the heat, if you want a LBC to drive everyday the B GT is the choice.

As an aside my TR250 is not done yet, and was not raod worthy when bought, it may displace the 4A on the favorites list, we will see...

What color is that red? Our Mini needs paint and we are leaning towards a darker red than the Tartan red. Top of the list right now is the VW Bug dark red....

Hi Folks.

Yeap; I miss my `66TR4A-IRS as well. They`ll be another LBC in the stable in no time.
