Bwahahahahaha.

I found something to keep my retired husband busy and out from under my feet! And away from MY B. (unless of course I need him around my B)

Buy it

You can never have too many

I could never have too many. Although dahubby feels one (in the condition it is in) is just perfect.

Ideally, I'd like to win the bid for pennies and have hubby fix it up for our dot - (she graduates from med school in May) and she'd look mighty cute in it.

NOW. Help me out. Here's the link, what do you think I should max my bid out at?

68 MGB on ebay

Now Theres a Loaded question!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

with rust and all?? Typical mgb floors?

500.00

I think I'd put in around $600.00 it looks like a good restoration candidate....It's hard to get a good deal for a car off ebay, but worth a shot.

Zack

Mark, they won't make me pay extra for the rust, will they? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

$500 is about what I had in mind, only because we really don't need it (well, one of us doesn't) and really have NO place to keep it whatsover. 2 car garage, a truck, my B, my other car, a 4 door pickup and a boat has us maxed out! And because I'd want it fully finished by May when Sarah graduates.

I haven't re-bid since I was outbid at $150. I'll see what's going on when I come back from our car club meeting later tonight!

We have a truck and access to a trailer. Could send hubby on a road trip to pick it up. HEY! That would keep him busy for a few days!!! And it doesn't look like the worst B I've ever seen. And Chuck really likes the chrome bumper B's. And I hear you about getting a deal on ebay. I've rarely bid on anything there besides antique books and I know my books. I know nothing about cars.

I am sure that if you have enough money it could easily be done by may...

what ya think. ??

your gonna talk your self right into it .

I think if I had *enough* money, it could be completed long before that.

I think my husband is VERY handy mechanically for that part of the biz.

I think as far as the body work and what he can't do, we have a friend who can.

I think Chuck & John could easily have that car ready by May.

I think we really don't need all that nest egg we have stuck away now that he's retired.

I think I'm getting myself in much deeper here.

I think I think too much.

And it's all his fault. He was browsing around on ebay with me. HE is the one who told me to bid on it.

Oh yeah - I've used THAT one before, too! That way it's YOUR fault. Works every time!

$ound$ like lot$ of ca$h to me. My 78 co$t "only" $1629 on Ebay and now have $pent a total of about $2200 on it. And that i$ without replacing one of the fender$.

I think you would be doing a wonderfully responsible thing by rescuing this poor neglected car. And your other B would have a nice little friend to play wif.

Ah Jaybird! you are home free! Hubby pointed it out and is retired to work on it. It is almost a sign from GOD /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I bought my most recent MGB on Ebay, but it was local and I did go and drive it first. I had a good look at it and still bought it, rust and all. As an experienced Ebayer, I will warn you that it is easy to spend more than you plan to spend! Just wait until the last minute and put i the most you will want to spend (with a little over one bid increment tacked on for good measure) and hold your breath. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I thing $500 or $600 bucks would be a steal...if your hubby can do the floors and major sheetwork himself, welding and all that fun stuff!

Good luck...we will all be watching with you now!

We all have faith dont let us down.. DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!!
Without you that poor B might just rot away, or go to a bone yard or something.. dont let us down
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

1) It won't be done by May.

2) It isn't going to be a bargain.

3) Body work is extensive - REALLY extensive

4) One small thing will lead to two others and two to 4, 4 to 16...

5) Buy it

Go get it right away, throw some RED PAINT on it, hide the other MGB, and say to your insurance company, "Look.. this is what that woman did to my car."
Kill to birds with one stone. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Just wondering: I can't be the only one who picked up on Jaybird's reference in her subject line, can I?

Mickey

Yeah that definatly won't be done by May.....or at least won't be done properly by May. Remember pics always make a car look better. One thing it does have is that it runs, thats always a good sign...Duh.....Looks like you really got bit by "the bug" BUY IT! you can never have enough!
