Probably not what you thought.

It's George Philips' 1951 MG-TD Le Mans with a streamlined body designed by MG designer Syd Enever.

Note the 5 bolt (TD-style) wheels.

Eventually, the MGA came out in 1955 with obvious inspiration from this car. ;)
 
Have to admit, I'm a car nerd enough that I knew what that photo was. I've read way too many car history books. :smile:
