Doc, you almost convinced me but now it's 41* at 8 am this morning. Man, that's balmy. And I can see the grass again for the last week. Must be an early January thaw.
 
This morning our paper has a headline "Up to 2" of Snow forecast near Macon"

Avoid the grocery stores as they will be a mad house as people stock up for the Emergency.

Around here, if a blizzard or nor'easter is around the corner, we make a run for eggs, milk and bread.

French toast is unusually popular.
 
Can't have French toast without syrup!
 
Here in New England you just poke a hole in a maple tree.

(And boil the sap for a few days.)
 
Do you have to have a Nor'Easter to enjoy French toast? For French toast it is convenient to have electricity too. Unless you want to fire up the Hi-bachi out in the snow. And if it wasn't for all the maple trees the electric would stay on and I could stay in bed. :)
 
Our local Kroger had no Milk, Bread or water on the shelves last night. A friend said they saw someone with a buggy loaded down with 4 cases of water 3 gallons of milk and lots of bread. Panic buying?
The snow if it comes here will melt by 10.30 Saturday morning at the latest.

That'd be a crappy diet for a few days. Make a meatloaf, have something substantive, fercryinoutloud. Panic, indeed. "Hurricane mentality."
 
The "Blizzard of '78" left a memory in those in the Northeast never to be unprepared for a winter storm and has led to supermarket craziness ever since:

We were living in the Witch House in Salem, MA at the time and we weren't able to get down our street for a week until a front end loader came to dig us out. Fortunately, we had a pub across the street, a packie (liquor store to the rest of you) a block away and a grocery store and restaurants within a short walk. No work for a week and three fireplaces in the apartment made it pretty cozy.
