I love it! [Now with video...I hope]

I just got the chance to drive my midget after some work this week end. I adjusted the toe in and did some carb work. I decided not to rebalance the wheels until I test drove it and the toe in was the problem. Was toed out about 3/8 and that is what was causing the shimmy and all. Smooth as silk on a smooth road now. handles even better too. That trick with filling the jet with solder and then drilling it out worked too. No strong fumes from the rear now. I drove it on the interstate and a rough section at that and was happy with how it did. I did not drive it real hard because the wife was with me, so I don't know it if its gonna run out of gas again. It was just right with the idle smooth at 700 rpm and all. The tach reads about 200 rpm slow at 3000. I checked that with another tach but that is ok with me. The speedo is right and so now I have 60 mph at just under 3000 rpms in 5th gear. I had the wife take a video or two. One on the interstate and then one on my road that was just paved today and has no lines yet. I will try and put them online soon. Now I am torn again. Very tempted now to drive the midget to MO instead of tow. Wife said she could never stand a real long drive with the top down (whining about her hair ;)). I will take another drive tomorrow evening if possible with her and with the top up on the interstate and see how she feels about it.

WOOHOO!

On the road and loving it, that's what we're all looking for -- and you've got it. Comfort for the wife is a good thing, so don't feel bad about thinking of towing to MO. You can drive once you're there, and then she (and you, by extension) will be happy.

Yep, it made my evening. Even on that rough patch of interstate. That area has grooved pavement and many pot holes. It has not been repaved in 20+ years. They are going to start on it soon. 5 miles either direction and its new pavement. It figures that is the stretch that I would have to drive to work too. Top up test tomorrow if the weather is not too bad.
