Arizona and one other state, I believe, don't do DST.

When I was stationed in Detroit (don't ask) in the Army, I used to listen to CKLW radio in Windsor, right across the border. They were on a different time zone. Always confused me. Then, I made the trek across the border one day and realized they were in a different decade as well. Like stepping back into the '50s. But, I digress.

Bill, sold my first Spitfire in the mid 70's to CKLW's adverting manager.

Did you serve at the Tank Command on Van Dyke? (we met there for C.A.P.)

And I used to run into a kid on 8 Mile Road frequnetly that had a dark blue Spit with the "Chicago" scripted on the doors. Nice graphic.

No, actually I did a 90 day TDY at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mount Clemens, MI, outside of Detroit. The Air Force abandoned the old WWII base and the Army took it over. It was our duty to man the base (3 dentists and a veterinarian) to protect it from the topless dancers that often invaded the base from the perimeter barroom. Much to our chagrin.

I did a TDY to a Detroit ANG base, I can't recall the name. Flew in "Tweetys". I think it was '71... grew up listenin' to "CKLW... The Motor City".

I still live within earshot of Windsor-Detroit.
CKLW is still going.
The airbase at Mt Clemens used to put on a great airshow in the 60"S
I went often.
And Windsor is still a decade behind Detroit, except for the Casino.

An old indian said that only a white man could cut a foot off the bottom of a blanket and sew it to the top and think they have a longer blanket.

I stole this and sent it to everyone on my email list. Got replies from most with huge laughs attached. Thanks.

Dissenting opinion: I have long hated DST.
I live at the 45th parallel, where days become quite long enough in summer, without any help, thank you... They are quite short in winter too.

I used to have to be at my workbench at 7:00 AM. After a winter of arriving there before light and, in he worst of it, leaving after dark, spring would come. Ahhhhh. Sunrise just beginning to happen as I drive to work -- and then they declare DST. PLUNGED into darkness again! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

And, of course, it stays light til nearly 10 PM in the middle of summer. It's hard enough to put your little kids to bed at a reasonable hour without it being bright-as-noon outside!

Neither of these situations pertain to me any longer. My son has to put my grandchildren to bed in the light. (Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!) But I've never forgiven the idiot that came up with this scam.

I like the old Indian's take on it!

Oh I used to love to play golfball! My friends and I would get together for a cookout and beer. Then we would hunker down for a good session. We never broke any vases, but Tom got a sprained thigh once. Good times.
