Just saw an ad on tellie... $18 APIECE for "Rain-X" wiper blades.

*cough-gasp*

EXCUSE ME?!?!

Can they be THAT much better?
 
Do they last any longer than the $9.95 a pair Bosch ones?

Especially in the Florida sun???

I'll wait an' see.

I'll stick to "conventional" blades. And spill Rain-X on th' glass regularly.
 
That sounds high. We bought a set of blades (not just the inserts) for my GF's Santa Fe and the whole thing was about $18 total - not each. They're $6/per on Amazon. We might have paid $8-9 in NJ. That's about what I paid for my set of Bosch last year here.

FYI... I put a set of Rain-X blades on my dad's van a year ago and they look like new. My Bosch ones looked like they were rotting after 6 months in the sun. They feel ok and they're shedding black yet, but they had that weird "look". I'm also not sure about the arms. Rain-x are supposedly galvanized, my Bosch ones look like they're just painted. Time will tell.
 
My Bosch blades are still good and th' Rain-X bottle is half-full.... I can afford to wait. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
 
I have the bosh version of those blades and they work fantastic and don't ice up which is very important up here in Santa land.

I really like the Rain-X washer fluid...

Kinda expensive but after awhile you don't even need wipers.

I know that we replace the blades on our cars every six months, whether or not they are "good" or "cheap" blades. I guess it is the price to pay when living in the the heck that is Florida. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
 
Doc., before there ever even was a Rain-X, there was a guy in Red Bank, N.J. who cooked himself up batches of this pink stuff that looked like a bar of soap and you basically "waxed" your windscreen with it...and it WORKED!! Just like Rain-X, (which came along shortly after and then he was never heard from again). So home-brews are possible!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif
