I took an 85 mile test drive in the Crypt Car today.
I made it home under my own power NOT on a flat bed.

80 mph on the expressway to clip past 800 miles driven
without a breakdown and .................

<span style="color: #000099">([color:#CC0000]<span style="font-size: 17pt">Hear me!! 800 miles w/out a breakdown!!)[/</span>

color]</span>

Then off the expressway onto 2nd and 3rd gear roads-
switchbacks , punched to the floor board the entire time.
Dammmmn it felt F....ing good after three years of restortation at $$ mega bucks..

Wind out the gears and the car keeps climbing!
Unreal to me!!

I feel,today, like like a teenage in in 1967
driving my buddie's GTO. !!

AWESOME DUDE!!!!
80 mph in a 1969 TR6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like great fun, glad things are going well, can't wait to get my TR250 on the road, posts lke yours give me inspiration.

Nice going Dale. Now repeat after me...

<span style="font-size: 17pt"><span style="color: #FF0000"><span style="font-weight: bold">DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!</span></span></span>

I think that rear carb is a little off. Sounds a little lean!

Better pull the plugs Dale, just to make sure the carbs are OK. And I bet that backroad driving loosened crud from the fuel lines; better change all 8 filters. How about the exhaust??? Still seem full of potatoes?

Now, if you had taken Amos out for a fun run, not a "test" drive, you could park him in the garage and except the same perfect performance tomorrow. As Tony would say, DRIVE IT!!!!!!!

Thanks Don!! I'm glad you spotted the problem.

I'll pull the carbs off tomorrow and send them to jeff Palya
for a second go of rebuild!!

Ah Dale! Ya caught me with me pants down!! I'm only running one fuel
filter that I installed with the new fuel tank. I'll install the other
six fuel filters when needed. For now, they are spares!!

I'll go purchase a few sets of spare spark plugs--- until I get the
mixture correct.

d

I know it's the wrong make, but I just have to say it.....
zooom, Zoooom, ZOOOOOM!!!

Nice going, Dale! That enduro run should be a piece of cake now. You'll be able to relax and enjoy the adventure, with complete confidence in Amos.

Hi Tinster,

Just think; A few wks ago you were ready to bring your car to the crusher!

Its all worth it in the end even if it did cost you $50K+!!!

Have Fun,

Actually Russ, you only know one half of the story.
The Mrs is a financial analyst by trade. She didn't quite
accept my statements that the Crypt Car rebuilding cost a
"coupla $ thousand."

Everytime she figured I'd burned thru another $5K, she'd book
a penthouse suite on a cruise ship for a week. Next month
we take our 12th cruise since the Crypt Car came into our lives.
