I just want to say THANK YOU

That is a really good looking 4 you've got there Joe. Happy motoring.

Wow looks great, I finished my 4A this spring and it is back to original Triumph green with white top and tonneau. I kept the white steel wheels (like yours) with original hubs and always get comments from other Tr guys that its nice to see a car without the wires. I did put an original luggage rack on the rear and it adds a nice touch to the car, recommend the addition. You got a beauty and it will be fun playing with it. Happy trails. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Nice 4... did you get it from eBay (I recall one in CA that looked a lot like yours -- I remember it because it also looked like mine).

Mine: https://www.geocities.com/tucson_british_car_register/tr4-home.html

I too recommend the luggage rack. Just got back yesterday from an 800 mile drive, nice to be able to fill the boot with parts and load the (vintage) suitcase on the deck. The fact that the rack requires no drilling and can be removed as easily as removing a license plate makes it about the nicest design out there.

As for disc vs wires -- I like both so I switch back and forth using a spacer behind the wires to allow for the longer studs. Have had no problem with this approach.

A couple of other comments after looking at your car --

I see you do not have a back-up bonnet release cable. Perhaps you have never met anyone who has had their cable break. Adding a back-up costs a couple of bucks and is peace of mind.

You appear to have a length of standard radiator hose from the tsat housing to the radiator. The correct bellows-type hose is supposed to reduce the amount of engine vibration transmitted to the radiator. You can always keep the old straight one as your spare.

Does your left knee bang against that inside door handle? Mine did so I removed the handle and repositioned it 90 degrees clockwise. Not correct but much more comfortable.

Enjoy your '4.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

TO GEO Hahn: Aloha! what a trip, our TR's must be related!

The TR4 I just picked up in January is the 4th TR of my lifetime. Back in 98 or 99, I sold my last TR6 PHOTOS = https://www.geocities.com/joemad11/TR6/tr6.htm

I told Mrs. Mad, that I would never buy another Triumph, but I came across this TR4 on Craigslist. I couldn't pass it up, I love this car. (I had 63 TR4 when I was in High School, back in 1981, but I couldn't afford the maintenance)

Thanks for the tip on the luggage rack, and the radiator hoses... I will look into it. This winter I plan on working on the engine compartment to tidy it up.

Thanks again and happy motoring to all of you too!

Hi Joe, Great looking TR4, if everyone loved them as much as the first owner and you there sure would be alot more around. Like the look of the wheels and the rack should add a final touch. Wayne

Nice car, Joe.
You can easily make an emergency hood release cable by just threading wire through an existing cable hole in the bulkhead. Test that it works before you have to use it. A good suggestion by Geo!
The seats and steering wheel in your car appear to be from a more modern car, any idea which car?
Simon.

the seats are from a TR6. The previous owner was tall and wanted the higher seats. he also replaced the steering wheel with a smaller one for leg room I'm not sure what type it is, it has a Triumph Logo, but I've never seen one like it However, when I bought the car the seller did include the original TR4 steering wheel, which is in very good shape ...I just need to install it,

Re: seats and steering wheel

Great that you have the original steering wheel, I have been looking for a good one for a while, not easy to find.
And the TR6 seats recline which the TR4 seats do not, nice upgrade for longer trips.
Roll on summer!
Simon.
