but, Basil, that would require paying salaries comperable with US union scale! Wasn't the very reason for going to those 3rd world countries to get lowered manufacturing coasts to increase profits? No politics!!

Good one Jeff...some of the imported tools I've bought have had similar verse. One of the imported welding clamps we got, suggested that "you must always wear a heavy dress whilst engaging in welding" (maybe if we were "The Villiage People").

One of the most famous "transcpritions" comes from a Japanese car rental brocure (written for English speakers):

"When a passenger of the foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage, then tootle him with vigor."

Nial, I've driven in Japan, and I "Tootled" continuously! Nearly as bad as Italy, where all you need is second gear and a horn!

That apparently has nothing to do with it!! First off they have no problem paying english tutors a real good salary and benifits!! (I know people that have worked tin China) and the second thin is that that factory is probably run by aCanadian, American , Brit or Aussie!! In fact the factory could be owned by Harbour Freight!!!

Basil wrote...at the top of this thread...Today I bought a "Made in China" Tap and Die set from Harbor Freight. Its a good thing I already know how to properly use these tools because the instructions that came with the set wouldn't be of much help. Some actual excerpts from the instructions (stuff in parenthesis added by me):

Basil...isn't language a strange thing...or is it the people that use it (the language I mean)...it's hard to tell whether one is coming or going...unless you know where they (or you) started from)...I guess that's why it's fun to play with it (the language I mean)...in fact it's a dying art...isn't it...
