I have new...

2 quarts of oil? Only if you are burning more than a quart per tank of gas. I get 250 on a tank, and burn oil at 1 qt/ 1000 miles, so you can keep one as a spare, and pick up the extra qt when you fill the tank.. Leaving more room for a bottle of water..

"...leaving more room for a bottle of water..."

Water heck, leaving more room for another pair of shoes my good man!

Being a man is good.
We can get through all of life with 2 pair of shoes..

At least I can't pack my kids adn all their 'stuff' into the MG.. That's what the effin minivan is for, then I don't care how much the family packs.

Reminds me of the thread I posted some time back, "The Compleat Boot." But thanks, we have the basic tool kit (duct tape and WD40, right?) and didn't occur to us (at least me, hubby may be on the ball) to grab the ignition stuff.

Ya' forgot the chewing gum. Sticks to everything. Good for keeping saliva in you mouth on long walks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

....and don't forget the hubby. He is going, isn't he? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif What size tires did you go for? Might be a good idea to run past a few mile markers at 60 indicated, just to get an idea of your actual speed.

175/70R14's. Good idea Guinn. And after the first 100 miles, I'm going to check the air pressure.

Hubby's going, yes. Because he's worked like a dog on the B this week. Paid his fare. You know, I had a teeshirt made for him:

Oh FYI my speedometer doesn't work anyway. Well, it gives me a rough guesstimate. Once I'm in 4th, I'm somewhere between 40mph and 80mph.

hahah... well... using mile markers you can figure out the speed, associated with constant engine RPMs so you have a better guess at what speed you could be doing... heh

Would that require math? Or thinking about something besides driving the B?

The MG Doc in our car club told me something about 17 or 18 times rpm gives you a close guess at your speed, but I don't remember exactly how it went. So I figure, slower than the guy in front of me, faster than the guy behind me!

Maybe someone with 175/70R14's can run 50, 60, and 70 and note the RPM's for you. I am running 175/65's. How about it, guys?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Yet another reason to take Dhubby along. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

As I duck for cover!!!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Have a safe and great trip.

Might I add...

I have new SHOCKS! YAY! Rear shocks, Monroe, tube conversions. Now to get them here and get them on!

Getting a 'page cannot be displayed.'

These shocks:

Ebay, Jack Emery's store. I've bought from him before. Seemed like a fair price compared to moss.

Let us know how you like the tube shock conversion, most guys i know that have them switch back to levers as the tubes tend to be too stiff and rattle your teeth.

ACK.

When dahubby first started talking about new shocks over the winter, I said I wanted to stay with the levers, because I wanted the car to stay as 'stock' as possible. HE convinced me tube shocks were better.

GRRRRRRRR. Be right back while I go thump dahubby upside the head.

~mutters something about 'men' under her breath on the way out~

I have a recent flyer from Apple Hydraulics. They sell rebuilt rear levers for $59.95 per side. Levers are old technology, but work well in an MGB for everyday use. Maybe if you were autocrossing or had a highly modified car like gary's I would suggest the tube conversion. Also, a rebuilt set of levers from Apple would probably last another 30 years.
