ALERT!! LOOK OUT!! BE ADVISED!! SMALL CRAFT WARNING!!

80% chance of major tropical event all day Saturday
over all of Puerto Rico, so claims NOAA marine forecasting.
Be off the water by 9:00 AM at the latest because of
approaching electrical storms, high seas and heavy rains.

So we cancel today's tarpon trip, late last night, and
reschedule for Sunday when all the bloody moron jet skis,
cigarette boats and other jerks are on the water.

8:40 AM -I'm looking out my window right now at a beautiful
clear blue sky, no wind, perfect tarpon day.

Thank you Mr Weatherman- now I'm stuck with "Honey-dos" all
day.

BLARGH!!!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

All I can say is.... DOH!!!!
Sounds like an excuse to rack up some miles twards the Amos christening ceremony. hehehehe

Then thars the day you don't listen and you take your open 18 footer out. All of sudden you-r in fifteen to twenty footers with lightning coming down and fanning all over the place. The beers are jumping outta the drink holders and rollin and spillin all over the deck. You-r doin about a hundred foot every half hour with two hours to go and you think this is the day you-r gonna die. Just when you think it can't get any worse it starts to hail and you wonder what were you thinking about this morning since the fish will be there tomorrow. Better safe than sorry.

Banjo has the right idea - I'll be headin out bout eleven -I'm thinkin Amos can do the same but keep an eye out for those electrical clouds.

tinster, sad news indeed, i had just the opposite happen to me several years ago forecast sunny, slite cloud cover, low 80's wind lite breeze n.e. 4-6 knots calm seas, took my merc. powered 20 foot center console wellcraft out solo anchored off darien ct. in my fav. spot, blues had been running followed by some of the largest stripers in years, caught and released 4 blues and was unhooking my 3rd. striper, in an instant the wind shifted swinging the boat completely around 180 deg. temp dropped what seemed like 20 deg. sky turned pitch black huge swells turning into 6-8 foot chop coming from all directions and getting worse by the second, made the 2 and 1/2 - 3 mile return trip back into the Stamford harbor breakwall thanking all the powers that be. and people have always asked me why i only buy merc. outboards and how come i needed to install a switchable second battery, i explain that long island sound can be a very dangerous body of water one must be prepared and that WEATHERMEN LIE! - hay somebody had ta put a fish picture up here!
