The internet security software

For some reason, to get to any of my favorites, I have to turn it off....so with it off & me on the internet, I have no protection!!

All I did was delete all of Norton then I put the Kaspersky disc in & loaded the program & started it....

Hmmmmmmmmm Maby it is a kanperasky to keep you off of the net

So, looks like for some reason the firewall was set so tight that no sites that weren't secure sites could get through!

Interesting.....

Hello Tony,

there is usually an 'exceptions list' that you can put all the sites you visit into that the Kaspersky would normally block? You only need to do it once for each site.

Tony, I have nortons 360 in my Vista machine along with Trend Micro Internet Security 2007, Named " PC-cillin". There is no conflict between programs and both are very controllable. They both work well with Vistas built in firewall program for Internet and email. I also have an email program called " Barracuda". It quarantine's any Spam and allows you to specify allowed addresses. PJ

Paul - I had Norton 360 but Kaspersky didn't like it - & too many things were getting past norton!!

I agree on the AVG thing. IMO the best AV proggy so-far. Not so big on ZoneAlarm, tho.

And I thought you were running XP Pro, Tony?

Yep - why, Doc? I already know I don't like its firewall!

Saw Paul referring to ~Vista~ further up the thread.

I'd suggest downloading AVG Free and dumping any of the 'Norton' & Kaspersky warez. Uninstall all the other security/AV warez BEFORE you install the AVG version.

As for "firewall" software, it's ALL a PITA. But if you are "out in the wild" the XP native one would be what I'd use. There is NO substitute for an appliance firewall... but kinda impractical on-the-road.
