Helped inventory and pack all my friend's 2-rail 0 gauge trains....and it was a lot of stuff.
Pleaded with the daughter (in California) to let us take the railroad down while we had the crew in place.
Nope. Realtor says "it's an asset...sell it with the house".
Horse....errr...Hogwash.
So, all this vintage (no longer available) TruScale milled wood roadbed (you can get it for H0, just not 0) was going away.
Thursday of last week I get a call from the daughter.
They have an offer on the place for more than they thought they'd get (big place). The stipulation is the railroad must be removed.
Tomorrow is day three of unscrewing and hauling.
My carport is FULL of TryScale, rail switches, scenery...........oh, dear.

Argh.

...sigh... Some people's kids...

Day three, railroad is down, track all in my carport.
Dumpster is full.....but they sent a 6-yard with the stipulation noting bigger than 3'. The boards are 8'. So, tomorrow, we go and load dumpsters and sweep it out.
Good news is I have about 1,000 feet of track in my carport plus switches.

Didn't see that comming...

I feel the same way about "Financial Advisers", Dave.

Only an asset when you find the exact right person for that sort of thing. And all the realtor is interested in is the highest offer anyway, to maximize their cut and will change on a dime when it comes to keep or remove.

Four days, countless man hours....two disabled guys with canes to walk, two with heart issues, one on Chemo, and it's a big pile outside the garage door for them to deal with later (they did not want to send another dumpster that has a 3' maximum length AND we ain't interested in cutting it all up).
Bare room, swept out.

Maybe that's why they offered more. "Sure, we'll take it. He's an extra $XXXXX. Just make sure all that crap is outta here!"
