I bought the upside-down ceramic tomato planter from Kellysguy (I assume her name is Kelly) and planted a grape tomato plant in it, upside-down of course. I now have about 18 or 17 little baby tomatoes on the plant, with plenty more a-coming. I am excited. (it doesn't take much to excite me these days.)

Sure ... you have tomatoes already. We got snow on Saturday morning.

I too have one of Kellysguy's planters, but haven't even gotten a tomato plant yet. It's been cold and wet here. But... planting will be very soon. I'll post pics of mine as soon as it's started.
 
Hope they don't taste like soap.

A restaurant chain we enjoy is East Side Marios. Back in the day they used to have a giant tomato hanging out front. I recall my (much younger son - think 3 years old) walking into the restaurant, the hostess walks up and the first words out of his mouth were; "Lady, you've got the biggest tomatoes I ever saw." you have never seen anyone blush so much till she figured out what he was talking about.
 
Bill, give us a nice photo of one of the big ones when they're ripe!

Around these parts, the BEST tomatoes are "Hanover" tomatoes, grown in Hanover Co., VA. Something about the soil there, and just the right nutrients, make them really special. The texture, the moisture . . . just right.

To me, summer doesn't arrive until I get a mess of Hanovers. One of life's little pleasures.
 
Those are collectors items now, no more to be made. Glad to see it in use. Don't forget miracle grow once a week and keep an eye on it when it gets hot. They need a lot of water. Just touch the bottom by the stem and see if the soil is dry. Juice it if not. Might have to do morning and evening watering. Good for you Bill!

I may have to use a macro lens. They are <span style="font-weight: bold">grape</span> tomatoes.

Around here we use the <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">Hangover </span></span>tomatoes. That would be called a Bloody Mary.

Collectors items, eh? Hmmm, Ebay? Along with my signed Chinolope print of Che Guevara and my authentic Walter Chauvin half-sized cypress pirogue, used to ice down beer or whatever.
