I Got My Property Tax Bill For My Car Trailer

Here in Virginia we pay property tax on vehicles & trailers.
I had the trailer stored in the next county (Bedford County).
As you may recall, last year I received a tax bill for $1.08 on it.
There was an envelope enclosed company to send the payment in.
I noticed that the address on the envelope was in North Carolina,so
I assume that they pay that company to collect & process it.I wonder
just how much they spent to collect that $1.08?
But wait,it gets even better - This year I received a tax bill for $0.00,
with an envelope enclosed for payment.I was tempted to write a check out
for $0.00,& send it in,just to see what would happen.

You’d think that there would be a threshold at which the computer program would not process the bill. I would guess that it cost in the neighbourhood of $10.00 if not more (probably!) to get that let to your door…

But at least your bill went down!

A few years ago I got a refund check from AT&T for an apparent overcharge in the amount of $0.08. I didn't cash it and kept it for a long time. I would post a photo of it but can't find it anymore. So apparently big companies as well as government entities don't have or use common sense.

Yep - instead of common sense, now they turn their decisions and communications over to computers!

I got a stock dividend check for $0.02,& didn't cash it.
For some reason I had to call the company that issued it,
& mentioned that I tore up & recycled the check. They responded
that with "We'll issue another check".
I think that I still have it here somewhere.

Apparently a computer program is far cheaper than hiring someone with common sense, if you can find such a person today.

Common sense is an oxymoron !
Many years ago ,after a move , I received a statement from my old bank showing a balance of 1 cent
in the account I had closed when I had moved.
So every year I would receive another one(stamps were .15$ then). Finally there came a statement
that said there was 2 cents in this account (I closed in the 70's).
I finally took pity on the fools and wrote them a letter giving them permission to do what ever
they wanted to with this 2 cents.
Mad dog

On the plus side you finally got to give someone your 2 cents worth and they listened. :ROFLMAO:
