It almost too good to be true. I got the 1960 Bugeye started today! The 1275 engine that is in there sounds oh so good! Now, on to the clutch and brake hydraulics. I'm excited!

I purchased a MGA once and put the cart before the horse. Got it running and took the wife out for a ride. The master cylinder was corroded and failed as I approched a stop sign at a major interestion. I wouldn't be typing this if the "E" brake didn't work. The wife and I would have been dead. There was a mini van coming at over 55 mph. I would have been directly in it's path.
Please be sure the master cylinder isn't corroded inside. Ours didn't fail for a couple of days.

Great advice everyone! I appreciate all the concern for safety. I guess the excitement of getting it back on the road can sometimes push common sense out the window! I will make sure I can safely "stop" before I go.

Was reading an article last week about the last MGB made. Apparently it was set aside for Henry Ford(3rd?) and ended up in the Ford Museum - was then sold to a museum in PA where it was sold to a private buyer. He was so excited to get it running he did - and it caught fire 13 miles away due to perished fuel lines. The story was the story of the restoration.
