A bolt that was not tightened on the rear shock drivers side. All ok now. No clue how I missed that one.

And all of a sudden the fuel guage is working correctly, I still think I will drop the tank when the fuel is low. Has to be a ground in the wire up under the tank.
 
Isn't it obvious that the shock bolt was also the ground for the tank? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif (remember that we are talking LBC logic here!!)

Welllllllll, maybe just maybe you got something there. But I think that the wire from the sending unit to which I sodered an extension so it would reach the loom has lost its winding of inslating tape. Old tape maye and when it grounds the guage goes to full. When I move it a bit it gets away from the ground and reads properly. We will see. That's the only thing I can find that I am unhappy with at the present.

I know exactly where the falt is Mike. up on the top of the tank between it and the body. Nice spot heh. Working to get this tank of gas down so the job is a bit less of an effort. Dosen't seem to bother me a lot since I know and understand the problem. It's the problems that I do not understand that really get to me.
 
Maybe I should make an access panel in my boot to tinker with the sender if needed.
 
If I was going to do it again I would cut a whole in the belly bottom large enough to remove the sender if needed and close it up with a peice of sheet metal screwed in.

Seems only reasonable, it could not be seen and would maybe save a bit of frustration down the road.
 
I'll work an access panel and plate into the boot floor then.

Now... if I can just remember to do it when a get a round tuit.
 
Let see, your problem is you have to drive Miss Agatha around to lower the level of gas in the tank, we should have it so bad. Enjoy.
 
Yep tuits are great. Make a list, easy one, use a 4 inch hole saw but do some measureing first. Wish I had a hole there. Well maybe when I pull the tank.
 
Should be simple if the hole doesn't have to edge over to one of the ribs in the floor. I'll weld in a 16 gauge (or thicker) ring to stiffen the area, and then use aluminum plate for the cover (with a gasket of course).
 
Think I will just use a peice of alum and some house clalk along with four sheet metal screws. With the access I will never have to get in there again. hehe.
 
Ah I remember the good ol' days when I was a race mechanic and had to spanner check the entire car after every session... At least on those everything was easily accessible!

Yep. Quite a lot of space there actually.
 
IN the Jag I've given up....went with a NOS a STICK!!!
