TR2/3/3A I found an Original tr2 grill and Apron

I found an Original tr2 grill and Apron. They both need some work, but they are from the L.A area and the sheet metal is very solid, so I do not mind putting time into the Apron.

The Grill has a crack through the metal in 3 places at the very bottom that is pushed out about 1/16 and a small piece is missing. I am thinking I could glue the pieces together and not try to bend the metal at all because I am almost certain the metal is the same as what makes up the door handles.

Perhaps I can make some kind of cardboard form-- then fill it with JB or some kind of gray epoxy to fill in for the piece that is missing. Any ideas on how to form epoxy would help.

If it were me, I would use the grill for a pattern and have one jet cut from .125 stainless , then polish it
Surprising no one already does this & sells them as there is a market.

Are these out of Manhattan Beach by chance? They look pretty darn good!
 
MD I think Moss sells one with chrome on one side, but yes I saw some bumpers made of stainless steel in Cal and that would be a good way to go. My thoughts on this one is to use the back side of the grill in front because the back material is in very good condition plus it hides the cracks and the front chrome side is falling off. I like original parts.

Kevin the guy went out to the desert and brought the parts to my daughter’s house in Montebello after I saw the pictures. I also got some front fenders with no real rust, just the desert kind of rust on top in small spots. The apron had older body work in led and then some bondo, but pretty much original paint and very solid.

It's pot metal...so I would not approach it with welding. Perhaps soldering, but that's beyond my ability.

The original is chromed, so I would take it to a chrome shop to see if they can deal with the repair and then chrome it. They deal with pot metal parts all the time.
 
Thanks John for your input. There used to be a chroming shop close by, but they closed down sometime back. I heard of a chrome shop in Seattle, but I bet that would cost probably 500.00. I wonder if the one Moss sells is stainless. I need to call them.
