It's been a stressful couple of weeks here at Casadroo with everything but my Honda off the road and needing repair. Last night I dug into the MG a bit to get it ready for some parts that should be arriving shortly, and while I was at it got the light in the boot working again. A small thing (just needed a few connections sorted) but at least I made some progress.

Funny how the little things can keep your spirits up.
 
Drew...Carla and I TOTALLY understand what you're saying. We've been in the same boat lately. Working on everything we own and just spinning our wheels without accomplishing anything. It gets very frustrating.
 
When life throws you a curve, stop what your working on and go get a Ice Cream Cone!

Got a few more things handled tonight. New (and proper for RHD) heat and air knobs installed, and all new studs on the rear deck for the hood/tonneau. Whoever placed the access hole for the stud closest to the back of the car should be boiled in his own pudding. Just saying.

Also installed the correct choke knob (round with fan graphic) but it doesn't seem to do the twist-lock thing properly. Tried it in the new sheath and the old one, but no go.

Also got the BMW running (new points did the trick) so at least one of my fun vehicles runs. Hey, it's something.

mehheh. Finger cramps? "Paper cut" skin insults? Lost fasteners down in th' bilge? :devilgrin:

ISTR the correct choke knob just has a "C" on it, no pictogram. I have photos here someplace of the "conversion" we did to retro-fit the old knob on a newer cable but can't seem to locate them ATM.
 
Fan knob is correct for this car given the year and the fact that it's a home-market car. It *almost* stays put with the twist, but not quite. The one that was on the car (later T-handle) locks perfectly. I'd love to be able to put the new knob on the old cable.

I'll fiddle with it for a bit, but my last resort is to call the vendor and register my complaints -- and put the old cable/knob back in.

Funny thing is how many details on even a later model UK home market car are still the early ones: single line brake system, metal dash, switchgear, on and on. Just a few trim differences between my car and a '67.
 
Boot light....funny.....when I got my LBC, tried to get the boot light functional (this RHD 2.4L has one more bulb socket in the bulb piece than US cars, near as I can tell), and I had no power. Went throuigh the wiring diagrams, poked and prodded, until I saw the power feed (hard to read in non-colour diagrams that are all squished up) came from the park light circuit. The boot light will only work with park or head lights on.

So, then I get to the map light, up under the dash cover....no power, no power at the toggle switch......so I checked, once again, only works with park or headlamps on.

Smart, really. Can't leave the map light on accidently when you park it, can't drain the battery by leaving the boot lid up (long as you remember to turn off the headlamps).

Gets a little cramp in there for your toes when you got a torch in your boot
 
I would imagine quite warm too!
