folks will buy new parts on eBay for equal to or more than they cost new. Strange how some minds work or maybe they don't know what things are worth or maybe don't care.
I think that your statement has some fact but there are bargins to be had on Ebay if you know exactly what you want to buy, the cost from a mail order catalog or store, & you can wait until the auction ends (usually 7 days). I buy and sell on Ebay. One of my hobbies in N scale model railroading. I model a specific railroad (Pennsylvania Railroad) at a specific point in time (mid 1950s). There is no way that I could obtain the items I want without Ebay. We have 3 hobby shops in the Oklahoma City area which do not carry Pennsylvania Railroad items. Hobby magazines and on-line hobby shops will have the latest items available but they won't have a new locomotive that was made 15 years ago. As for the old car hobby I have 1 example. I wanted a new set of 4 stainless steel trim rings for my 76 Midget. Moss and Victoria British have them for around $50.00 plus shipping. I bought a new set on Ebay for $40.00 including shipping. Not a hugh savings but a savings none the less. I agree that there are many new MG/Sprite parts on Ebay at prices over the normal catalog price. The buyer should always be informed before he buys any item. If a buyer pays more on Ebay for an item that he could buy somewhere else for less, shame on him.
i got my tonneau cover this week....paid $30 for it ....
im not complaining /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif]
there are stil ALOT of people that dont know about VB and Moss...its that simple.......z
I do recall an editorial by the editor of Claasic Motorsports. He had just been to Carlisle and was making the point that ebay is a better place to sell than to buy. Witness the broken camera body I sold for $10.75. That being said I've also gotten deals on ebay.
