My stock pipe has a bend in it. That's how I got the muffler pointed up at the back. Either that or find an adapter that gives you maybe 30 degrees of bend upwards.
 
I've got a couple of those myself and might give it a try. Did you make an installed video yet?
 
If the Harleys in my area are any indication they should be giving the mufflers away because they sure as heck don't use them!!!!!
