Excellent. Good luck with it. It is amazing how there is always enough space for just one more if you try hard enough! It looks like a solid little TR. Keep us up to date with how you get on. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Re: I did some measuring...it WILL fit in my garag

Huuuummmmm! I think it would fit in the Crypt as well.
We have friends from WI flying down in March.
They could "check it" and pay for over-weight luggage.

That fine looking auto would look even finer on a
twisty mountain road here on the island.

Best wishes.

Tinster,

The problem is both you and i bought "restored" cars...need I say more?

You would have to wrestle this car out of my bride's hands..it's actually HER car...

Now if I could get HER to fix it...

Re: I did some measuring...it WILL fit in my garag

Is that an early Ford V8 in front of the "one car garage"?

Re: I did some measuring...it WILL fit in my garag

I know a guy who's sitting on a pile of new parts that he bought over the past few years for a full resto of his TR3, including a crated rebuilt tranny with OD (2-3-4) and a new supercharger. If you are interested let me know and I'll get a list of what he has and pricing.

Sadly, he sold the TR3 to a guy from NY who had a similar collection of parts and is doing a total frame off. Reason, BMW Z-4 with 3,000 miles at a bargain price. Car was never driven in the rain and he fell in love.

Re: I did some measuring...it WILL fit in my garag

A LONG DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! It definatly wont fit into your garage!!! send it here immediatly!!! hehehehe
AWSOME find. Give it a proper job. that is an extremely rare/ early TR. definatly a 54.(long doors were stopped in the fall of 54 at comm# TS4002)
4 vent holes in the bonnett, Internal bonnett release, no cowel vent, square taillights, etc....
Does it still have a dual thermostat housing?
Incorrect things I see so far is Chrome boot and bonnett hinges (they should be painted body color) and the fender beading was originally plastic (either molded or painted body color) not the stainless type.
Seriously. that car deserves a proper resto. If your just looking for a driver you should be able to get a premium for that one and get a decent later 2 or 3 with the profit
But I guess I'd rather see it a bit rough and on the road than in a perpetual resto.
If you EVER loose intrest in that car, let me know... Otherwise, you've stumbled on the holy grail of early TR owners... ENJOY!

Yup...That's the reason I bought this TR2...and two more TR3's...I traded my wife's TR3 for that '39 Ford...I still hear about it three years later!

Banjo,

This TS 1203 LO...it's a pretty neat ride.

It LOOKS like it was never driven after an amateur restoration. There aren't any holes in the new floors for the seats...unless the PO sat in the "occasional" seat!

This car was too late to have the funky t-stat housing...but you did catch some of the "incorrect" stuff...however the hinges were painted body color at one time but they are now silver. It also has later tail lights and a TR3 license light.

The motor/trans are not original...and the motor is stuck. If I can't get it broke free, I have a TR3B powerplant that should be a runner.

The floors are not accurate replacements but were done very nicely...I probably won't change them. The interior sills are a little rusty...but the rest is real solid.

It has a "white" steering wheel...I don't think it's white from age or deterioration...I think it was like that originally...never seen one like that before.

I plan on driving this a couple of years then blowing it apart for a proper rebuild. I agree that this is a neat piece of TR history. I REALLY appreciate "survivors"...especially those that haven't been touched. But this car is just too neat not to drive ASAP!

Did I mention the California Black Plate? (see attachment)

Re: I did some measuring...it WILL fit in my garag

Good. Sounds like it's in the right hands. You obvously understand what you have there (unlike the PO from the looks of things). I fully agree with your plans (not that my opinion means anything).
I had the honor of working on TS812. It was an awsome car, but it went to a young man who diden't really grasp what it was. He was looking for a TR3 when he saw this one that was within his budget. It's always haunted me, as that car was extremely original.
I've got a good feeling about your's though.
Mine's a late 54, a short door. it's number 5012.
