Back in Y2K, when I was looking for parts/bits for my'74 MGB I did not realize that I could have bought the whole company!
According to the press, reporting the sad news of MG Rover's financial problems today, is the report that BMW sold the whole company in 2000 for 10 Pounds!
Even at today's exchange rate, it would have made sense to buy the company, and then raid the parts bin for what was needed.
Why do we always hear about these bargains too late?
