3M says, "Dang, it should have worked, must be how you applied it. We are not responsible, read the label."

The paint manufacturer says, "That sealer has Ketone and Toluene in it and it will dissolve the paint. Don't use it."

~no s...~

The salesman at PPG paint jobber said, "Who?!" ~click...buuuzzz~

Bill, Hang in there and don't let your blood pressure get to high... It will work out in the end..

The stuff I bought at the local auto body place is a brushable sealer that is WATER based. It's made to go over any surface with any type of paint system. It skinned over in minutes, and dried within about a half an hour. I can't imagine what they sold you.

The worst part of this whole experience is that NO ONE is willing to help. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Ah yes, the new American way of doing business. And we wonder why our country is slowly becoming uncompetitive.

I really don't want to be tuff on Bill but most any body shop in the world would be on their own when mixing products from different manufacturers...especially with the high volatility of these newer paints.

I guess that would make this body shop on my own. I be's my own body shop. Incorporated under the Tinster,LLC franchise.

Live and learn. Sometimes not.

I have experienced this in the past. The only difference was that I did not mix brands...all PPG crap.
After application of the sealer, over the body work...then a couple coats of primer, the bonnet section of a TVR begain to bubble.
Phone the PPG jobber and told them of the problem. They set up a meeting with the head man. Loaded up the bonnet for the meeting and was told at one point that I had not applied enough primer...HUH?.
After close examination of the containers, I noticed that the primer contained Aceitone. Now if I would have applied more, then the bubbling would have been worse.
Bonnet had to be stripped back to the gel-coat and started over. I never received any $$$ for there screw-up!
Must be nice to have this sort of protection?
Best of luck, David.

They are all still jerks.

Offering something, which will be a write off anyhow and keeping a customer, is far more important than winning the age old battle of who did what or mixed what products.

Sorry, but after all my years in the service business, there is a right and a wrong way to handle this. You have just seen the perfect example of the wrong way to do business in todays market place.
