I bought a boat!

Offline
Well... about 2 weeks ago, my boss mentions a boat that a guy is wanting to sell... for $500! so, I have to go look at it. It's not in too bad shape, except the floor is mushy and the seats are missing. The 40 hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard runs he says. A week later It's in my yard. Me and my brother in law proceed to rewire it, and add a fishfinder and 2 fold-out seats (seats 4 back to back, but folds out into lounging benches). I have new carpet for the floor, but need to get a piece of 1/2 inch marine plywood for the floor.

That didn't stop us from going on the maiden voyage today! Lot's of fun. The motor finally opened up after about an hour of burning the old gumy 2 stroke oil in the engine.

Fished for 5 hours and didn't catch squat.

Oh, well. The boat performed nicely, and even though we installed a 750 gallon per hour bilge pump, not a drop of water got in there.

We still need a new winch strap and the floor, but all in all it's not a bad boat for (what am I up to now?) around $850.

Oh, it's a 1984 glasstream 15 foot runabout, with a 1986 yamaha 40 outboard. very comfortable to ride in, and has a convertible top, but it's a little confining with the top up. I'm thinking about a bimini style canvas to go on it though... Something high enough to stand up under. The sun get's pretty harsh this time of year.

Great find Kenny! Hope it brings you many hours of fun in the sun! I've always wanted a boat but all the lakes are too far for me to make it worth doing. (I'm in the dessert in New Mexico) If I ever move somewhere there is lots of water, a boat will be the first thing I get!

Don't lose sight of the rag power'd one!!!

It's neatly tucked away under it's cover right now. But there's only one place nearby big enough to run it (I think I got it out about 4-5 times all last year). That's my lake boat, and now I have a river boat too. (the river is much closer). But it won't be forgoten. I have 2 ragtop sportscars I need to tend to soon also.

My kind of guy!

Nice find on your part.
Enjoy it and remeber-

"A bad day fishin' on a boat is
always better than a day working
in the office".

good luck,

Nice find! Enjoy it in good health and style. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Boy, yer gettin quite a collection there. Good find. I have a Canoe that I got 3 years ago. it's been in the water 3 or 4 times. I vow to use it this summer. I'm gonna build a rack for the CJ.
And I was dreaming the other day of having a sailboat, hahahahaha!

Boat, trolling motor, fish finder? Thought you boys down yonder just noodled them catfish.

He shoulda stuck to noodlin' and put th' time/money/effort into the CARS, IMO! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Hehehehe!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Kenny,

Now you need to remove those sissy cushions from
the bow, box over the pit with 3/4" marine plywood
and fiberglass. Go onto E-bay and buy yerself a
proper fighting chair and mount that bad boy on
the bow.

Then you'll be the envy of all them catfish and carp
boys for miles around!

I think a solid teak fighting chair would look right
nice on yer fishing machine.

trailer included in the price? Kenny

Kenny's becoming "theBoatist".....hehehehehe

Good find, Kenny!

..I'm jus' gonna keep razzin' him. Goin' from sail to a stink-pot... what with all this responsibility for global warming, increasing fuel costs an' TP rationing talk... da noive a some peoples!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Since Kenny is so anti kermie.

IMHO he gets a half sheet cause he has a stink-pot.

Hey Dr,

Kenny is just going to have to learn to conserve our
natural resources. Some days I leave my 50+ mph
Tres Gatos fishing machine on the trailer and take
out the Yellow Bullet for a bit of environmentally
friendly, one man, near shore trolling. A fishing sport
NOT for the weak at heart.

global warming is a marketing ploy to sell hybrid cars - yuck. I still like my sailboat, and actually replaced a few items on it a few weeks ago to get ready for some easy cruising onna lake. But, I like fishing on the river too, and tubing, and I may get a wakeboard too. Can't do that with the sailboat. something about the wind stopping while a fully loaded coal barge is plowing at you doesn't stick well with me.

My little outboard isn't going to polute the planet any more than a few cows do. And I'm working against that one... 2 thick ribeyes marinating right now. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Oh, and yeah, the trolling motor and the trailer all came with the boat. I had to buy the fishfinder. Oh, and I ain't got nuttin for a danged nasty catfish. Y'all can keep yer noodlin.
