image.jpgHusband and I were having dinner. After dinner this is what we found. There were no cameras so we couldn't determine who did it. As it was dark when we got out of the restaurant we didn't see it. When we got hone and in the garage husband didn't see it as he wasn't really paying attention. I wasn't aware until a good friend called me to ask what happened to Alexus. Long story short I was totally torqued. Fortunately I am fully covered for the damage and have rental car available and under my uninsured coverage it will only cost $250.00 out of pocket. There will be no points against me. So far State Farm has treated me well. First claim in 20 years. If I had hit someone I would have left a note on the car with identification and I would have advised my insurance agent. I guess I'm from the old school.
 
Ouch! Too bad the "perp" didn't 'fess up and leave contact info.

We have State Farm as well, and have been completely satisfied with their service and attention.

Got estimate today. $1952.50. After reading the comments re Don't take Agatha to a restaurant, it occurred to me that most car events include a restaurant. Our dinner was part of the local Jaguar calendar. It was our monthly meeting. Didn't take Onslow as he's in the garage and there is a 3' mound of snow in front of that side of the door. The shop I went to was the shop that repainted and fixed a few creases in Onslow. I feel good about them as the did a great job. Hope all continues to go well. Stay tuned for the rest of the story...
 
My wife and I came out of the bank one time to find a long white scratch down the entire side of her Camaro, also with no note left. The lack of common courtesy people have any more is disgusting.
 
Grrrr... Very frustrating event. Have had similar happen a number of times. Unless I caught the perp, the damage was fixed by moi.
 
One afternoon I came out of the local liquor store and as I was putting a case of beer in the trunk a fellow came up to me and said "is that your car?" That's another story altogether. Why would I be putting beer into someone else's car?

But anyway. I seems someone had swiped along the rear bumper with the side of their car. The driver then parked about 50 feet from where he had hit me. Where the damage was I probably wouldn't have noticed if someone hadn't told me. I would have just gotten in and drive away.

I waited outside the store until the guy came out. When he saw me looking him in the eye he said "I was in the store looking for you." I just laughed and told him to get his insurance info. I had already gotten the witness's name and taken a picture of his damaged car.
 
I still find it sad that 'responsibility' seems to be nonexistent. I won't be getting a rental car as it isn't necessary. I'm okay with saving my insurance company some money.
 
Judy, check into a PDR guy or service in your area. (Paintless dent removal). He may be able to straighten that out without filler or repainting. I know, I know but you would be shocked at what some of these guys can do.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm going to let Melloy Collision in Albuquerque handle it for two reasons - one is my satisfaction with Onslow and the other is one of the Melloy's is my neighbor and all around good guy. Also the dent isn't just a dent, it's a real good crusher which is hard to see in the photo and the white surface is what's underneath what used to be the paint on my car. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
