I am a slow learner....I think

How many of you have had the nylon brake fluid tank on your master cylinder micturate over night on your paint job. After changing the tank, two gaskets and the cap, I think I finally figured out the problem...the darn cap has to be screwed on just right. Kinda like the three bears, not too loose, not too tight, but just right. It is a ritual with me to go out every morning to check how much leakage I have coming out from beneath the cap. I have taken to applying a wrist sweat band around the cap, kindof a master cylinder do-rag if you will. That little gasket either leaks if too loose or leaks if squished down too tight. Why is it that the fluid tends to evaporate and condense up under the lid and subsequently leak out so predictably? The option is silicon fluid, but that ain't gonna happen.

Hi Bill
iI've had the same problem with my 73' GT6 and now my 71' Tr6. I have even tryed changing out the entire units ...((bad design))

If you're a slow learner Bill, you're in good company. Mine does exactly the same thing, except my do-rag is a piece of t-shirt wedged between the reservoir and the brake booster. That leak drives me nuts, and I have never been able to get it to stop.

Coming in a close second on irritating brake parts is the PDWA switch, which also always has a spot of brake fluid on it ... I guess that area of my engine compartment is destined to have no paint.

Hi,

Ever think about changing the reservoir for another manufacturer's, like Wilwood or Tilton? Many brake parts are fairly universal and interchangeable. Not "original", but may be worth it to save the paint and get rid of the do-rag!

If you go to summit racing (or jegs probably - I just happened to be at summit) there is a dual master for about $100 that looks like it might fit. STR-B3360 or similar (there is a nicer looking Wilwood one WIL-260-4894 too for a bit more)

ISTR a thread recently about this where the guy with the featured car in the two issues ago edition of the 6-pack mag had it on his car. You might want to do a search for that too.
