General Tech I’m Guzzling Oil One Year After Rebuild—Blowby?

I’m nervous. I found myself two full quarts of oil low. Car runs great. No fouling of plugs. Compression even across all cylinders at about 160. That seems low to me. My other TR4 was 175. Oil pressure gauge is good after adding oil. But what caused this? I have no material leaks. I see no clouds of smoke on high RPM shifts. I used Moss 87mm rings on rebuild. Part 817-200, I put them in carefully. My only engine venting is the PCV valve. It looks totally clean. Maybe 4 drops of oil in there. A small bit of goop. Nothing else.

If I’m getting “blow-by” or whatever it’s called, wouldn’t my plugs be fouled? Just checking online it doesn’t seem there’s a sure-proof easy test.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I hope I’m not I for an engine pull and overhaul already.

Confirming: I understand the engine is “consuming” oil, not leaking oil? I’ve had bum luck with oil filter installation, for example. (Parking on a piece of cardboard helps identify the location of any drips.)

No, the oil looks normal. No odor I can detect. I keep hearing things about unseated rings and blow-by. I’m borrowing a Borescope to look inside the pistons for bright shiny piston edges, which I’m told would mean the rings aren’t seated or installed incorrectly,

The guides , if not knurled will pass a fair bit of oil. This is mostly on the intakes of course
The factory called 1qt every 500 OK. However, this trick with the guides has gotten me
1500/qt. even with the leaky rear main.....

Here’s what I discovered today. My PCV valve diaphragm had a one inch slice in it. I hadn’t noticed, but it was definitely faulty, broken. I’m hearing and reading that a bad PCV can lead to high oil consumption, and that if my carbs are too rich the oil consumption can be ever worse. Is that correct? Two quarts low was shocking. Any Triumph experiences out there?
