We have a lot of humming birds all Summer, the wife has feeders hanging everywhere. Last week when I came in from the fields, the wife called me and said, you have to see this! We had 7 humming birds in the garage, never had that many in there before, usually a couple will fly in after hanging around two butterfly bushes on each end of the garage. For some reason after they get in the garage, they won't drop down below the doors, but fly around the ceiling continuously, the ceiling is 10 foot high. The wife came up with an idea to hang a feeder a couple foot below the doors and once they drop down to the feeder they will fly out and go about their business. They even get in the barn on occasion, so I hung a feeder in there below the doors and lo and behold, it works! Great idea the wife had! Makes my life a little easier. :encouragement: PJ

Last weekend I took my Camera when we went on a walk in the fields and hills near home. Happened to capture some humming birds around the many sun flowers along the trail. Here's an example,

Basil, what shutter speed does it take to catch a humming bird's wings with almost no blur?

My hummers are still around. At least 2. They fight something fierce when approaching the feeder. I hung 2 feeders this summer but now only one is left up due to lack of traffic. I had to squirrel-proof them because it turns out squirrels love sugar water too and were tipping over the feeders. A Downy Woodpecker also visits the feeder and is apparently able to sip up some sugar water but a Goldfinch keeps trying but is having no luck.

I don't have the picture anymore, but the first year we moved, we put out 1 feeder. I held my hands up around the bottom of it, and I had at least 6 hummingbirds land on my hands to get a drink while a dozen more buzzed around waiting for their turn.

Amazing Site! BTW a group of hummingbirds is called A charm of hummingbirds, a troubling of hummingbirds, or a hover of hummingbirds
