I could not find it in the TRA judging manual (looking in exterior, badges, chassis & miscellaneous) and was going by the spec in the Moss catalog (and my memory). Neither of the latter 2 sources are infallible.
Good news is that the repro embossed are usually pretty good. The cloisonne repros look nice too but I don't think the colors are spot on.

The factory SPC gives the change point as TS13046 (before the introduction of the TR3A), which is also what the Moss catalog I have handy says. Neither is infallible of course.
The repro cloisonne medallions that I got from TRF at least didn't catch my eye as being the wrong color, right after I went through my collection of originals. The only obvious (to me) difference was the lack of road rash. But I've never had a very good eye for color, so maybe I just overlooked it.

Like this look ... Any idea how that emblem is attached to the alloy wheel? Looks very nice and does not appear to be added to normal centre cap but held there with some sort of rubber ring. Cheers, Mike

Looks like somebody either machined a nice attachment for it, or was able to retrofit an existing center cap. EDIT: Geo-is that what you did for your JA Pierce wheels?
This type of add on is highly dependent on the wheel used, some need to move out to avoid interference with the rear axle nut for example.

My 1958 TR3A (TS 27489 LO) was delivered new with cloissonne "world" emblems on the hubcaps when I went to the S-T dealer to pick up the new TR. The deeper and the painted ones came later.
It was in 1992 at TRA that I lost a part of a point because one of my cloissonne world emblems had scraped against the curb sometime between 1958 and 1972. I had bought 4 new ones (which I still have) and they are the clossonne type but I hadn't put them on for TRA because the country India is shown somewhere down almost touching Australia. The geography is wrong on those repros.
But TRA still told me that the shiny new ones would have saved me that point - even though they were repros and not like the originals. Naturally, the 4 I had on my TR3A in 1992 were the "original" ones.
You go figure.

Not that I find the discussion enamel vs paint uninteresting, but my question relates to the design. Below are the two different designes I'm refering to. You will notice the bottom design has more lines of longitude and latitude. Also the continents/landmass in red are smaller. I believe both are OE. If so does anyone know what model years they correspond to.
With regards to enamel vs paint, I have always understood that the OE was enamel, and that is what mine have.

The 'red background' is what was on my 59 when I got it 33 years ago. Given its condition at the time (neglected) and the limited availability of repro anything) I think it was probably original.
The 'blue background' is geographically correct (India really is north of the equator) though, IMO, it is not as attractive a design.
If you're trying to home in on a change point, mine is TS47905L built 15 Apr 1959.
PS -- Not that it matters but the repros I have seen look like the 'red background' example
