My rear carb doesn't follow the pattern suggested by the manual.

More specifically, enriching the mixture does nothing to increase engine speed as I lift the piston up 1/32nd of an inch. I detect absolutely no increase in RPMs.

That suggests something is wrong, of course.

Does it likely mean that at idle speed the float isn't letting more fuel inside the carb? And would that mean the jet is dirty or the bowl is dirty or blocked? Or both?

Two questions. How does it run on the road? And did you synchronize the cabs before doing the piston test? Sounds like the forward carb may be doing all the work at idle. I'd eliminate any tuning issues before I looked further.
