HS6 Carb Rebuild Results

Boy are they ever purty.
If I had a set like that I'd have to re-do the whole engine compartment just so they wouldn't look out of place.

Very nice, Rick!!

This reminded me I have a set of aluminium velo stacks for 1-1/2" SU's. Cleaned 'em up a bit with Nevr-Dul. These were on a Volvo with HS6's for a while. The Kasner type, mostly good for the Vintage race crowd. I think I'll put 'em on the "for sale" list.

How much you want for 'em doc? (or maybe one of them?)

Oh. Those carbs are pretty. Did you paint them, polish them, or have them plated? I spent hours polishing mine for it to just go back to dull gray in about 1 day.

Let's see. You put 1 1/2" stacks on a Volvo with 1 3/4" carbs? How did THAT work for you.......?

PS - nice looking stacks but not for street use, people!

 You're right, Bill. Not well.

...The stacks are 1-5/8" I.D., The pal who owned 'em TRIED to put 'em on th' Volvo after he'd had the 6's put on it....

I got 'em in lieu of money for work on his Elan.

I need to change that ad now, huh? :jester:

They'll work in a custom built air-filter intake plenum - on the street!

I think I confused the vendor who makes the custom machined su-filters on here by telling him I wanted ONE HS6 filter for my late model MGB, So I decided to make my own. One of them little things would work good inside it.

Well..... um, not so quick Kenny. They'd choke down th' air and th' "step" from trumpet to throat is enuff to cause a depression, it'd be a poor "match". Better to get one of the earlier car HS4 air cleaners and hog out the back plate to match the 6's throat diameter. Have a look thru th' Spridget forum for Hap's mods to the backplates in the stock air cans. Both sexy and practical. These trumpets couldn't be modded to match well.

Ahhh. Ok.

Nice looking carbs Rick, yeah Jimmy and I talked about the rebuild work that had been done on these carbs prior to Jimmy getting a hold of them, looks like someone tried to do some funky stuff with the choke levers, but Jimmy cured all thier wrongs for you, and as always with Jimmy's work, they look first class and will work great. I made some custom veloctiy stacks for HS6s to work with the KN RU-4410 air filters, they are all sold now, but I do have the abilty to made single sets if needed. Here's a pic of the HS6 velocity stacks I made, Jimmy got a couple of sets of these from me.
