Float moves freely, and no holes that I can find. No fuel inside the float either.

Just thought of something- Do I adjust the float to be 1/8" away from the rim of the cover when the little spring in the end of the valve is compressed or uncompressed?

Maybe I'll just manually fill that back bowl with gas until the float level is right, and see if it runs differently at least temporarily...
 
Yes! Not to mention I don't have to worry about that fuel pump, and I picked up some new plug wires, a valve cover gasket, and some cool british flag badges while I was at it.

...If the float did have a hole in it, wouldn't it cause the bowl to overfill, rather than underfill?
 
ummm...none. I have the longflo hemispherical ones but I haven't put them on yet. I believe I am supposed to coat these in oil, but how much to use and what type I have no idea. I put them on once to see if it would change anything and no luck. That was a while ago though...
 
Cool. I'm sure I can pick that up at any auto parts store.

I'm sure it would help a little to have them on, but I've got a feeling that the fuel level in the rear carb is the culprit more than anything.
