Amidst the raindrops ... I tossed hay to the cattle (red devons), pruned the lilac, pulled the remains of last year's parsnips and jerusalem artichokes, helped the women folk make butter (they churned it, I washed it), enjoyed a noon-time dinner by the fire (pork roast, parsnips, flour pudding, pickle, boiled onions, cider), talked with visitors from Ukraine, Siberia, and Boston, mucked the barnyard, docked the lambs, and got a chance to fire an 1816 Springfield Armory flintlock musket at some pesky varmints.
That's life at Old Sturbridge Village on a rainy Sunday.

I have to tell you Old Sturbridge Village is one of our very favorite family outings. Its about an hour from us and we are members of course.
We learn something new every time we visit. We were there two weekends ago and spent a good half hour talking to one of the interpreters about composting! And the kids always have a good time. Its just fun to spend the day imagining living the simpler (although harder) life of 1830's New England.

Just wanted to add an interesting (to me anyway) postscript to my previous post on the great weather we've had in England.
Its not without its consequences - today we received a pleasant note in the mail - a speeding ticket! Traffic is monitored all over the place here with speed cams - including the quaint little town I sped through (37 mph in a 30 zone). Makes it harder to come up with an excuse like "Sorry officer, we were just enjoying the great weather and and winding roads and lost track of things".

After snow last week, the NE was granted with the best weather yet. I started the car for a minute yesterday, and it ran Ok. This morning, mom and the baby napping, Old Gold couldn't wait anymore, it started on half a crank. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif We were off for a short 5 mile trip. 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. The car was made for this. Ran great after the winter hibernation (except the usual idle problems. I also forgot to put the choke in once warmed up. Silly fuel injected cars.)
Saw a classic vette conv, two Audi A4 cabrio, BMW 3 series, four Harleys, 2 other motorcycles, and a Sebring conv. All enjoying the weather.
I did get stuck behind a Rabbit Style VW conv doing 40 in a 45, and they had their top up. Stupid Sunday drivers.
So it was payback for the April snow we had Monday!!!!

I want to be putting the 3A back together but still need to powder coat a few pieces. Probably finish next week after this burst of summer goes away.
Yesterday was perfect so we picked up branches and birch twigs all of the yard and raked a little.
Now today I am replacing the panels in my greenhouse roof that were perforated with last Augusts hail storm. Need to get the greenhouse going for spring planting.

Still working on the budget paint job. I have 4 almost finished (1 last very fine wet-sand then polish needed) fenders and a door baking on the front porch. Hood and trunk lid are paint stripped and nearly prepared for painting. Have actually put a couple of things back on the car today, which is odd as I thought that they were only designed to come off.

Today, Sunny 80deg! TR is back out and about!
The Next 3 days forecast is: Rain / Cool Down with Highs in the Upper 50`s: Kodanja, You may just be right!!!

We had beautiful weather this weekend in Wisconsin. mid to high 70's and zero humidity...pretty nice.
Saturday I did a little organizing on my outdoor parts stash...mostly early Ford V-8 parts...axles, springs, a Model A body etc. I had sorta let this area get pretty messy the last few years so I organized it a bit.
I also worked on the hood that goes on my '95 Peterbilt. It was damaged a few years ago and I got an insurance check but never had it fixed. Now that I'm out of the trucking biz I need to fix it and get the truck sold. These hoods are all aluminum with 'Huck rivets' holding them together...kinda like a super strong pop rivit.
I finally got the hood disassembled and ready for reaasembly using several new panels. One inner reinforcing panel needs to have about 10 'Nutserts' installed and two BIG 'Huck rivits'...something I don't have the equipment to do the job. So, after looking at relatively minor damage to the panel, I deceided to straighten the damage instead of replacing the panel. It took about 15 minutes to get the job done using my new Martin shrinking hammer and dolly plus a couple of hardwood 4X4's...it came out real nice.
Now I have a $650.00 panel that I can return for credit!
As a side note...I bought some Martin body hammers and a dolly last year at the Charlotte Auto Fair. It had been many years since I had a good set of body hammers and I have to tell you how much better they work than the cheapo Harbor Freight-style Chinese stuff that is available out there. I also have a couple OLD Proto hammers that work real good but these Martin's really make the job much easier...
After I got bored with the Pete hood, I uncovered my TR7 project and moved it behind my fence so it's out of the public eye. I then recovered it with a shiny silver tarp to await it's turn in the shop.
Finally, I put the TR2 on my lift and drained the oil. Tonite I'll pull the oil pan on the engine, remove the #4 piston and liner and finally get to repairing the engine so I can make a contribution to Global Warming this summer...
