My cousin & his family from New Orleans spent the night here last night...14 hour trip from NO to Huntsville!!...they just left going to his wife's son in North Carolina...have his wife's daughter-in-law & 2 small children with them...her other son (father of the 2 little ones traveling with my cousin & his wife)is a policeman on duty in Jefferson Parrish.....my aunt & her daughter made it to Jackson & her son to Nashbville...so, looks like my family all got out safely.
How long will it be before we know if the levees will hold?
I loved the newscaster today that reported the breaks during Katrina appeared to be holding, but there are other areas of concern" Well, duh! They fixed those breaks...we don't know where the new ones will be now do we?
I'm kinda ODing on media hype though ! Too much footage of talking heads in driving rain struggling to explain the obvious !!! I've switched to NOAA tracking and info instead!! Reports here on BCF are anxiously awaited, though I'm sure a return to normal will take a few days...just about the time Hanna gets interesting :eeek: ...and we definitly have to keep an eye on Ike !! Be safe!!
The last week wasn't all fun at all!
But the power came back on Saturday evening for us. But a lot of people will be waiting a week or more for power restoration.
In Baton Rouge, there are a lot of trees down.Quite a few have landed on homes etc., The streets are lined with piles of tree limbs and logs.It will be a while before that gets cleared away.
Now,as we continue clearing up,we are watching Ike closely.
