Joined in the freay back in November and thought it would be as good a time as any to say hello.
I caught the bug for English cars back in 72 thanks to the influence of my high school buds and their brothers. First car was a very tired 1962 TR-3B. Learned about auto mechanics, especially english wiring on that car as one of the 13 previous owners had re-wired the entire car using all white wire. Eventually restored the car to 80% and managed to get into club racing with it competing in SCCA time trials.
After the 3 went belly up for the final time and after a brief hiatus from things British, my next Brit car was a 72 Triumph Stag. Loved that car and ran up a lot of miles on it between Jersey and Pa. Kept the car untill 1990 then sold it to a gent in Houston who was a Stag afficianado. Car is now fully restored and driven by his daughter. Still get to see it occasionally at some of our local car shows.
Had a TR-6 for a short time while living in Pittsburgh. Had to get rid of it when the time came to move west.
In 92 I entered the realm of Lotus ownership with the purchase of my 89 turbo Esprit. Car had only 1738 miles on the clock and went for nearly nothing.
I still have that car today and it is my daily driver with 106,350 on the odometer. The passion continues. Have also picked up a Lotus Elise and 2-11 in the last few years and restored and raced two Lotus type 61's in our area vintage race venue.
When not messing with the Brit cars I play with Italian motorcycles. Yes, masochism runs strong in my veins.
Currently living in Houston with my lovely sports car, Italian motorcycle loving wife of 18 years along with a grumpy old cat and an overgrown teddy bear of a dog.
So hello to all you fellow Brit car lovers, especially the TR3 and Lotus guys and am looking forward to reading about your four wheeled passions.
