Joined in the freay back in November and thought it would be as good a time as any to say hello.
I caught the bug for English cars back in 72 thanks to the influence of my high school buds and their brothers. First car was a very tired 1962 TR-3B. Learned about auto mechanics, especially english wiring on that car as one of the 13 previous owners had re-wired the entire car using all white wire. Eventually restored the car to 80% and managed to get into club racing with it competing in SCCA time trials.
After the 3 went belly up for the final time and after a brief hiatus from things British, my next Brit car was a 72 Triumph Stag. Loved that car and ran up a lot of miles on it between Jersey and Pa. Kept the car untill 1990 then sold it to a gent in Houston who was a Stag afficianado. Car is now fully restored and driven by his daughter. Still get to see it occasionally at some of our local car shows.
Had a TR-6 for a short time while living in Pittsburgh. Had to get rid of it when the time came to move west.
In 92 I entered the realm of Lotus ownership with the purchase of my 89 turbo Esprit. Car had only 1738 miles on the clock and went for nearly nothing.
I still have that car today and it is my daily driver with 106,350 on the odometer. The passion continues. Have also picked up a Lotus Elise and 2-11 in the last few years and restored and raced two Lotus type 61's in our area vintage race venue.
When not messing with the Brit cars I play with Italian motorcycles. Yes, masochism runs strong in my veins.
Currently living in Houston with my lovely sports car, Italian motorcycle loving wife of 18 years along with a grumpy old cat and an overgrown teddy bear of a dog.
So hello to all you fellow Brit car lovers, especially the TR3 and Lotus guys and am looking forward to reading about your four wheeled passions.

As Mickey says, welcome. But he scored out the correct term. We are mostly crazy here. :jester:

Stuart.

Welcome from another former TR3 owner (and current vintage racer).

That 2-11 must be the bee's knees. Our closest Lotus dealer (Hopewell, NJ) is taking orders for them, but I haven't seen one in the flesh. Sounds like an amazing car.

And of course, everyone loves the 61......*the* classic formula car.

You have a neat collection!

Welcome...we have a rather busy Lotus group here.

Hi Al!! Welcome. Thanks again fer th' pix, too!! :savewave:

umm... I always considered the 18 as *the*. ...but that's jus' this ol' foole's opinion.

Since getting involved in vintage Lotus racing I've had the opportunity to ride in a 23B, 51, and 69 along with the 61. A friend has a beautiful 18 but the chances of me getting into that are slim to none and slim has left town. That car is just too small for my generous proportion but I agree it is a charmer.
Each car has it's own character and are a blast to drive.
The skinny tires and shake rattle and roll of the 23 along with it's stunning performance just asks you to take it out and give it a go.
The scream of the 69's engine at full chat is spine chilling and the 51 feels like a WW I fighter plane, nimble, quick, and a great handling car.
Would love to try out a V8 powered Lotus racer some day. That would be the pen-ultimate Lotus race experience.

Thanks to all for the greets. Have a good one and enjoy the ride!

Howdy Al,

"Welcome" from Beautiful S. Carolina (Greenville Area).

I too lived in NJ & N.E. PA (Pocono Raceway Area).

I hope your as happy to move to a warmer climate as I am. Even though, right now, Its only in the mid 30s & will be like that till mid next wk.

My most current project is a `57TR3 Small Mouth. I`ve owned two `58s and whole bunch of other Brit Cars over time but never a Lotus. I have a soft spot for the Elan Rdstr.

Well; Have Fun here as I`m sure you will.

Best Wishes,

Russ
