How to scam e-bay and build your LBC for free....

This guy is an artist...
Here's how...
Order your parts on e-bay, then claim you never recieved them or they are junk...
sellers are so concerned about their feedback they are willing to refund $$ rather than risk negative feedback. In the past 2 months the following items have been refunded to this guy becuase he never recieved them:

MGB HEADLIGHT BEAUTY RINGS
HOLLEY 30cc ACC. PUMP DIAPHRAGM AED BG DEMON GRANT QFT
RED HOLLEY NON STICK BOWL GASKETS AED BG DEMON, 5 PACK
HOLLEY #45 HIGH FLOW POWER VALVE AED BG DEMON GRANT QFT
MGB Convertible Soft Top 1971 1972 1973 1974 1975 New
MG MGB GT Dash Center Panel
MG MGB GT Triumph Austin Pair of Wire Wheels

After 2 months, you can no longer see the items, but this guy had no less than 1 -2 negative feedbacks every month for items he never recieved. He has 18 items (out of 418) that he has either claimed were not recieved or that he has been refunded money because they were "not acceptable or as decscribed" in the past 10 months.

WOW! WE have bought and sold over 600 items on e-bay and never had a single item lost in shipping or had to refund money until we met this guy. Now I think I know what happened to our parts...

What makes me so ANGRY is that Ebay , even when confronted with evidence like this, will not do anything about it. You can't even leave bad feedback for thieves like this anymore. Like I said, it is a strange business model.

The customer is always right....

Of course, if e-bay themselves were out-of-pocket on these transactions... One might suppose they'd suppose differently....

Same paradigm as bookies, Vegas casinos and insurance companies!

Something I heard the other day was that Amazon has people who all they do is scan the Facebook and like sites for mention of Amazon and if there is any bad news. They make it right even if it comes out of their pocket.
Now that's customer service

As a seller, one possible way to thwart such fiends is to mandate shipping insurance for everything you sell. Insure it for it's sold value and make the buyer pay.

It's a good deal for all involved. If the buyer alleges he did not receive it, he files a claim with the insurer. Reduces risk for sellers, makes buyers happier (at least theoretically).

I always do it, never had a problem. There's no way to be totally safe on eBay, but you can reduce the risk.

My tuppence worth . . . :yesnod:

On Ebay, both the seller and the buyer could be considered customers. But Ebay has definitely weighted the favor torwards the buyer instead of remaining neutral.

The last few times I sold anything on Ebay I insisted on delivery confirmation. Claimed protection for both seller and buyer in my description for insistence on it. I did have a few people claim that they did not receive items and lodge protests. As soon as I provided the confirmation numbers and a copy/paste of the shipping site information showing a signature at the point of delivery, I would not hear back from those claiming to not have received the item and Ebay would reverse any negative comments. I found that even the USPS's simple delivery confirmation, that costs an extra $.75, accomplished the same thing. Still, I have had enough negative encounters lately, let alone what I hear from other people, that I am not sure if I will ever sell anything on Ebay again. Not even sure about buying at this point.

" On Ebay both buyers and sellers " Not So!! As a seller I pay every dime of the exorbitant fees that they collect both on Ebay, and their tame revenue enhancing Paypal site. I pay to list, I pay when I sell, and I pay for the privilege of being forced to accept the not so safe Paypal. The buyer pays NOTHING AT ALL! I sell a lot of things, some of which are pretty much one of a kind NOS parts. I just roll the cost of delivery confirmation and insurance into the shipping. I do it to protect me, not the buyer. Since I pay the Ebay conglomerate all the money, I would expect that they take some steps to protect me, and my investment in their business site. Instead, it is all about "protecting" the buyers. I don't get it. If I become so disgusted that I no longer sell there, then they buyers have less to choose from, and eventually Ebay will be nothing but drop shippers for "stuff" from China.Boy, that will just bring the buyers in I am sure. The scary thing for me is that the scamming is much less common on Ebay motors than on some other parts of Ebay... It can only get worse unless the "management" team there wakes up and start fairly policeing their site in a way that benefits BOTH parties of the transaction.

Another reason to stay away from ebay!

I used to sell a lot of parts on ebay. Haven't done so in a few years now. When they started making sellers accept paypal, that was bad enough. When they made all sellers, even the casual seller get their stupid accout that charges fees and requires credit cards, that's when I quit. I still occasionally buy parts for the Midget there, but only when it is a part I can't find elsewhere. I also try to buy from the people I have had good experiences from before. Ebay is really one of my last choices for anything though.

I've done hundreds of Ebay transactions over the years. Fortunately all but two have gone well. When I sell i always use delivery confirmation, when its pricey I use Certified return receipt and insurance. I've had no major issues when buying, (except wondering a few times why I bought certain junk!).
On one selling occaision I sold a VG condition Midget rear view mirror. The buyer reported it to ebay as "not as described" and in "poor condition", he wanted a refund, but claimed it was valuless and not worth returning (?). I decided to call his bluff and offered, (notifying ebay as well), to pay refund for the original entire purchase, and pay for shipping on the returned item. Never heard from him again......however, ebay left his negative feedback.
On a second sell, I sold a complete set of 74 MGB tail lamps, side marker lamps, turn signal lamps, in good used condition......the buyer claimed never receiving, but signed the certified return receipt. Then when that didnt work claimed wrong merchandise sent, not from a 74. ( I went out to the garage to look at my car...yup, it was still a 74). When that didnt go anywhere, the buyer claimed damaaged in shipping beyond repair. I offered to refund all buyers costs including return shipping, and I notified ebay of the same. The buyer withdrew thier grievance, and I never heard from them again....I'm sure my lights now adorn this persons MGB!

Since these times, I've accepted a level of risk with ebay, and consider that with every buy/sell I do. Some regular sellers I've come to trust for quality and integrety. Other times, I just look at it as dealing with people, and all that that entails. Fortunately, most often things go well.
