Yessiree - we need to dry off that wet field so we can play the game! Just pour gallons of gasoline all over it, toss the match, and we're all set!

As the first selectman's office said: ā€œA poor decision was made to ā€˜dry the field quicker’ and 24 gallons of gasoline was poured and set on fire.ā€

Poor decision. yep.

It gives ā€œBringing the Heatā€ a whole new meaning.

Hey Bubba, hold my beer, watch this!

BTW my initial thought as to how to ruin was "Put the Blue Jays on it."

Pitcher took it literally when fans in the stands yelled, "Burn one in there!"

I thought this was going to be about the Sox burning disco LPs on the field between games of a double header.

Bit of hyperbole by the news there. They lit up the infield, not the whole field. When I was a reporter, always was taught to never say "completely destroyed" as the word destroyed means complete. This only damaged the infield. Wonder how much damage and contamination was actually done? Probably more chemicals and week killer spread on that park over the years than a few gallons of gas.
